1. Introduction This article highlights key issues / factors that motivated MrJohnston to start his business. These key issues will be analysed using the external and internal factors of entrepreneurship. The internal factors will include theories such as personality theories, behavioural theories and sociological and cognitive approaches studied by various individuals and groups. We will also apply the Krueger Model which is an integrated approach to entrepreneurship. We will briefly examine certain external factors that could contribute to / influence the behavioural characteristics of an enterprising individual, especially the cultural, political and economic conditions. There have been many studies and approaches to analyse what makes some individuals more enterprising than others. We will first look at some of the internal factors and related studies to explore what makes Mr Johnston an enterprising individual. 3.1 Personality Theories Trait theories These theories of enterprise consider that it is the personality / traits of the entrepreneur that defines their actions. The traits most often proposed by various approaches are achievement motivation, risk-taking behaviour and the desire for control. However there are traits such as need for autonomy, determination, initiative, creativity, self-confidence and trust, which have also been observed. Mr Johnston particularly displays the achievement motivation trait. He strives to be the best at what he does and likes the challenge of being in that position. He was very sporty and competitive as a child and always wanted to win. As an adult he always wanted to be the best at any job he did and as an entrepreneur he wants to be best in the industry. He thrives on competition and winning. Although the content theories suggest that individuals have basic needs and when a particular need is not satisfied, an enterprising person experiences unease. O ut of all the issues that effects our world on a daily basis, it is shown that overpopulation is one , if not, is our biggest issue in our environment that is only getting worse due time, e specially due to the rapid growth of the human population and the limited resources that are left on earth. In the last two centuries, population has skyrocketed. In 1800 the world population was only at one billion, and today it's estimated that the world population ex ceeds six billion people. It is made clear that w ith overpopulation, many problems have arisen. Some believe that overpopulation is the reason for world hunger, global population will reach crisis proportions by 2050, and some believe that overpopulation will bring the extincti on of the human race. Overpopulation is a real significant reason why today's current environmental status is in such critical condition. Even Dr. Charles A. Hall, who is a systems ecologist, states that, "Overpopulation is the only problem, if we had 100 million people on Earth or better yet 10 million, no others would be a problem." Which helps prove that overpopulation is a major issue that we must act upon if we want to save our world. More people on earth equals to fewer resources to be left which is a contributor to creating waste in our environment. For example, to breakdown some statistics, a child that is born right now in the United States will at least create about 52 tons of garbage and will consume about 11 million gallons of water by the time the baby wil l reach the age of 75 years old ("World Overpopulation Awareness", 1998) . Though think that is only taking into consideration of only garbage and water, and not even going into depth about other aspect such as food or energy this baby will eat or use in its life time. One can only imagine just how much more resources will be consumed and needed to be used by just a single individual, within an average life span. Because of this, a lot of the natural resources that the world population is using up at this moment, will eventually run out from the earth and will never return if we continue to use them at the rapid rate that we are current ly using the worlds natural resources at now. Many of these resources are key components to survival, though if we do not pace ourselves and choose to continue to rapidly use up all the resources, then we are not going to see positive results and might have to take extreme precautions since we would be hurting ourselves more than we would be benefiting ourselves. Conserving, and using our resources little by little is one out of a few ways that would hopefully benefit our futures greatly and for the better. There are a few solutions to this overpopulation issue, though they seem a tad bleak due to the fact that our population is growing at a ridiculous rate, and the odds to slowing down the growth rate do not seem probable. Currently, our world population is said to be estimated to about 6.765 billion people and due to the many causes of overpopulation, that number is expected to increase to 8.9 billion people living on earth by 2050. Also, statistics from (http://www.overpopulation.org/faq.html) state that "if the number of births per year continues to be constant, the current population would eventually peak a population of 296 billion human beings on earth in the matter of just 150 years." Dr. Susan Seneca h , who teaches the history of the American environmental movement, states, "But, whether developed or developing, everyone is encouraged to want' and perceive that they need' to consume beyond the planet's ability to provide." Which a very true statement basically sa ying that no matter if our world is good on a certain recourse or low on a certain resource, everyone on earth has the free will to obtain as much of that resource as they desire. This is why we as a society must stand up for what we believe is right, and what is right is that mandatory human chip implants cannot and will not be tolerated. One of the biggest issues with mandatory human chip implants is privacy issues and concerns. Many questions immediately come up whenever the topic arises. What organization or body of government controls the data stored from these chips? Is the information stored in the chip safe and secure? Can my information be stolen and or sold? As of right now the only chip approved for humans in a medical application is the â€Å"Verichip†. The Verichip is a chip comparable to the size of a grain of rice. As technology continues to grow and advance, how secure can these chips really be? If someone was able to steal your signal they would be able to do so many things with the information stored in it. Another strong arguing point on this subject is health concerns. With these devices being as small as they are, there is not enough data to prove that they are not a health concern. There is lots of data about these chips that should raise some eyebrows, as well as the manner in which they were approved by the FDA. Back in 2005 when the FDA approved human chip implants they claimed with â€Å"†reasonable assurance† the device was safe. The one thing they failed to mention in that claim was that studies going back to the mid-nineties directly links these chip implants with cancer. Many studies and research showed that one in six lab rats developed tumors because of the implanted chip. So how could this slip by the FDA you ask? According to Lewan (2007), well back in 2005 when it was brought before the FDA for approval, the head of the Department of Health and Human Services at the time which presided over the FDA, was a man by the name of Tommy Thompson. Well two weeks af ter the approval of the chip in humans, Thompson left his position at the DHHS to become a board member of VeriChip Corp. and Applied Digital Solutions. Even though it was five months later, he was compensated with cash and stock options from the companies. Can we chalk this up as a coincidence? I don’t think so. With all the facts and research done on this particular subject I find it hard to believe that the FDA did not come across any of this information before approving human chip implants. So with the data already in front of us claiming to link these chips with cancer in lab rats, can we honestly agree to be implanted ourselves? Finally, the thought or notion of human chip implants would cause a huge backlash in our religious communities. Just recently in Virginia, there was a public outcry against mandatory micro-chipping that caused the House of Representatives to vote on the subject matter. Krunkle , (2010) wrote, Del. Mark L. Cole (R-Fredericksburg), the bills sponsor, is quoted saying My understanding Im not a theologian but theres a prophecy in the Bible  that says youll have to receive a mark, or you can neither buy nor sell things in end times, Cole said. Some people think these computer chips might be that mark.(p.1) In our society, religion is at times, a very controversial and touchy subject matter between religious communities. There will be millions of people who will become distraught if human chip implants become mandatory. Our country has so many different religious cultures that it would directly effect. Are we really ready for the consequences that will follow if this eventually happens ? In conclusion, we as a society need to stand up to what we consider right from wrong. Accordingly, in their respective works â€Å"The Tao-te Ching† and â€Å"The Prince†, Lao-Tzu and Machiavelli have sought to reach a more complete understanding of this relationship. The theme of political leaders and their intricate relationship with society indeed manifests itself within both texts, however, both Lao-Tzu and Machiavelli approach this issue from almost entirely opposite positions. Lao-Tzu appears to focus the majority of his attention on letting problems or situations take their course and allowing good to prevail. On the contrary, Machiavelli advocates the necessity for a successful leader, or prince, to take control of his endeavors, and the skills or qualities necessary to maintain power, at any cost. Since these thinkers both make an inquiry to what is essentially the same dilemma of effective leadership, it becomes almost a natural progression to juxtapose the two in an effort to better understand what qualities a prosperous leader must possess. In this sense, when we utilize the rhetorical strategy of compare/contrast as a vehicle to transport us to a more enlightened interpretation of Lao-Tzu and Machiavelli’s conclusions, it becomes apparent that Machiavelli’s effort is much more successful as his practicality serves its purpose much more effectively.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Although they share some similarities in ideology, these parallels are greatly overshadowed by the concepts in which Lao-Tzu and Machiavelli diverge. Their primary distinction lies within their view of human nature and it’s role in governing. Lao-Tzu maintains that if we promote a system of governing to the least possible extent, then human nature should manifest a favorable temperance and dictate the direction of society. In fact, Lao-Tzu asserts numerous attempts to illustrate his point that if leaders, â€Å"Stop Trying to control† ( § 57, 35), then there is no desire ( § 37, 24), he dwells in reality ( § 38, 29), and â€Å"the world will govern itself.† ( § 57, 35) Although this is an extremely optimistic and beneficial ideal, the main problem with Lao-Tzu’s entire philosophy is exactly that, it can only be viewed as a philosophy. Because it appears under the section entitled â€Å"Government,† I... ...d this consequently deducts from the validity of his advice. As he begins to conclude, Machiavelli states that the prince: â€Å"should think about avoiding those things which make him hated and despised.† (Mach 48) Although these lack any withstanding moral values, they are effective in the sense that they better serve their purpose. Machiavelli was seeking to display a way to hold political power by any means possible not a utopian state. This may mean malicious acts, imprisonment, and torture, or it may mean the utilization of power to achieve a common good. Machiavelli doesn’t elaborate on this. All categories of ages can go to school; kids, young people and even adults. School is defined as a place where people get an education. By going to school, people can acquire knowledge and skill that are not only important for the society but also for them. However, getting out of the educative system has become a big phenonem nowadays. It mostly affects students from high school. They usually get out of school without earning at least a High School Diploma.Isn’t too early for those young students to drop out of school? The answer is that sometimes, they have problems that make them get out of school. While dropping out of high school is due to problems such as the financial situation, the family circumstance faced by students, and their difficulty to get adapted to the school system, it also produces effec ts such as the limited access to jobs, the exposition to juvenile delinquency and the lack of education. The major cause that motivates students to get out of high school is the financial situation of their parents.Not all students come from a rich family. Because of a lack of money, some parents cannot afford their children’s need such as school supplies, transportation or nutrition. Regularly, they just have a low rate job or maybe they are on the status of unemployment. It becomes impossible to take care of their family and even themselves. Poverty is a better word to describe their financial situation. It’s automatically clear that a student who lives in such conditions will drop out of school and will try to find a job in order to get some money.Additionally, some students from high school have a lot of difficulties to get adapted to the school system. To provide a better education, schools are always established on a strict system that imposes students to follow some rules in order to get satisfactory results. For example, the school system requires students to be present every day of class and on time, to do their homework and to study or to make research. However, some students find that difficult and unattractive. They do not feel motivated or interested for school. As a result, they fail in class.As long as they get bad grades in class, they always keep in mind that they are wasting their time by going to school. Therefore, the only possibility available for them now is to drop out of school. Another point that causes young students to get out of school is their family circumstance. The majority of high school students are adolescents. We all know that adolescents are sensible, so they are most of the time affected by their family condition. In a family where parents are always fighting or arguing, it gets obvious that students won’t concentrate in their education.Generally, parents who are in trouble in their couple cannot focus anymore on their children’s education. This could lead students to fail in class, and then drop out of school. The same thing applies on a family where parents are separated or divorced. It cannot be easy for single parents to take care of their children; furthermore, to pay attention to their school work. This means children are neglected as well as their education. It‘s certain that when students get out of high school, they have significant causes, but this situation of course generate many effects.First of all, non-graduated high school students have limited access to jobs opportunities. Even when they get one, it’s a low pay job. Knowledge, skill and ability are the first qualities that attract all employers. To stabilize or to develop their society, employers need help from qualified people. The better way to get knowledge is to go to school. The more someone goes to school, the more he earns knowledge. Secondly, when adolescents drop out of high school, t hey are likely exposed to juvenile delinquency. They don’t go to school anymore, so they have enough free time.Habitually, they have nothing to do, and they spend their time by staying in the street with friends. During this period, they might get involved into bad things such as crime, violence and vandalism. Actually, they become a danger for the society. Some of them run away from their family and turn to become homeless. Finally, students who drop out of high school are not educated enough. When people stop going to school early, they don’t have a possibility to be educated enough. They don’t behave correctly and they are not instructed.They cannot debate correctly like people who go to school. Sometimes, those people cannot even speak and write well. For example, it’s impossible for an illiterate person to give some pertinent ideas on a subject concerning the development of a country. They don’t have an ability to think enough. In conclusion, high school dropouts are due to many causes such as the financial situation, the family circumstance and the difficulty of students to get adapted to the school system; however, that situation produces long term effects.While some students stop going to school because of a lack of money and because of their family condition, some of them are just lazy. When I returned I found him transfixed with thoughts of blood and guilt and once again I took charge of the situation. I told him to go and wash the blood from his hands. Despite being criticized for their inconvenience and for being hard to read, e-books are often more convenient than their paper based counterparts. Regardless of future developments in e-reading technology, I think the book market will have plenty of room for paper books for quite some time, they won’t be replaced, like vinyl records have not been supplanted by CD’s. There always will be people who will buy printed book.
